Description:
Provide technical expertise to support all software and processes involved in the creation and maintenance of Retailer Defined Hierarchies (RDH), and assume a leadership role in helping drive these processes forward.
Provide expertise to all levels and functions within the company that require insight into the various databases supporting the RDH functions.
The Technical Support Specialist must possess expertise in working with proprietary software and applications (mainframe, relational and workflow tools) and is a subject matter expert on the business requirements and processes supported by these platforms.
The Technical Support Specialist provides insights needed to solve complex issues associated with RDH processing. This position requires taking the lead on understanding issues and utilizing data to answer business questions, supporting objectives, facilitating RDH workload throughput and making improvements to RDH processes. This role is required for all company or internally executed changes that impact RDH databases and supporting applications.
This position requires frequent interaction with Core Systems, New Product Development, Retail Services, Marketing, D/PC, Data Quality, and eSpec to provide insight and to support RDH process issues.
Number of Employees Supported: Indirectly provides technical support for 2 Coordinators and 14 Data Administrators.
Initial contact for complex initiatives associated with software changes, large data analysis, and data quality issues associated with systems.
Responsibilities:
Act as a department/company subject matter expert in supporting resolution of technical data issues associated with RDH processing
Determine the most cost effective and efficient means to perform RDH functions while maintaining internal processing standards
Take a lead role in seeking insight needed to move the department forward on RDH process improvements to improve efficiency, quality and cost to refresh
Take a lead role in the knowledge transfer of RDH processes that currently reside in New Product Development to SRD
Take a lead role in company initiatives involving RDH (e.g. RDH Redesign).
Interact with project leaders and management as needed to provide insight, make recommendations and execute assignments
Support development, UAT testing and Release Management associated with RDH processes, applications and initiatives
Take a lead role to ensure department user documentation of RDH processes and technical applications is current and complete. Train department associates as required to ensure full compliance
Provide technical support to other areas of the business as needed to help research and resolve quality/delivery issues related to RDH processes and output
Provide technical support for data analysis needed to answer business questions and issues
Design, create, enhance and support department statistics that enable department productivity, quality, efficiency and cost objectives
Qualifications:
4-year Computer Science degree (or comparable technical training / business experience) with emphasis on computer programming
Proficient in SAS, SQL, Access
Good working knowledge of Microsoft software suite
Familiarity with Oracle, Discovery and Crystal Reporting
Familiarity with IBM JCL/TSO, C+, C++, DB2, VB/VB.NET and Unix
Experienced working with large databases is desirable
Required Skills/Knowledge & Competencies:
Proficient in the use of SAS, Access and Microsoft suite software to solve and support key business issues
Provide leadership as a subject matter expert to enable new and efficient ways to support RDH processes and applications
Ability to learn new technologies as required
Strong business acumen
Ability to take non-technical requirements and convert them into technical requirements
Ability to work on multiple tasks with limited day-to-day guidance
Ability to take minimal requirements and drive a project to successful conclusion by recommending options, solidifying requirements
